The love of things...
Where does this come from? We collect things from childhood; we see other people collecting things at garage sales, flea markets, and in so many different situations. Some things are untouched and just remain there to look at, other things are given as gifts, given away, donated, or just cast aside. What really makes us love our things?
It must be an extension of our interests and ourselves...a small history of where we were and a memory that cannot be erased, good memories...even memories of when we received or found the item.
I've noticed some people have vast collections and they don't seem to be selling anything. Is it that they want to hang on to their things and just show them off? We've all probably seen this at flea markets and collectors fairs. Or maybe it's just the idea of having these things around us for comfort and contentment. It makes us feel good.
Some of us are the other way around. Some items come in and they quickly go or are replaced. There are minimalists around who enjoy stuff, but they just have a few things and enjoy having less just the same. They don't need a lot of items around them.
Either way, it's all good. We all love our material things. And I just wanted to put this post out there as it's National Coffee Day! ☕ I love coffee and it's part of this blog, so I had to mention it.
I hope you are all having a good cup of Joe and getting out to any sales that are going on in your neighborhoods before it gets too cold.
Enjoy!
